CASH IN HAND - SYNOPSIS

Anne was born into it – Chris abuses it – and Gareth has fallen into it. Cash in hand tells the story of three characters whose lives casually collide through circumstance and necessity. Anne Granger is part of Britain’s newunderclass, trapped in a hand to mouth existence of benefits and borderline blackmail. Owing petty criminal Chris Brown money, has become a full-time job – a job with little reward –but a job that starts to have big consequences.

In any town in the UK a change in postcode can be a street away – a small geographical gap – but a huge social gap. Gareth Booth’s middle-class life, and finances are put on hold after a redundancy and breakdown in his marriage. And the short-term answer is just a short walk away. Gareth needs a cleaner for cash – Anne needs cash for Chris – Chris needs cash to carry on extorting the town. One break in this precarious chain and it will impact everyone - especially Anne. Who can she turn to – who will help her out – maybe it’scloser than she thinks?
